چکیده

1. Modern supply chains Supply chains are networks of firms who pool their capabilities and resources in order to deliver value to the end consumer. Firms are no longer able to own or control complete supply chains. Information technology and modern logistics capabilities have created a global market where companies can take advantage of the opportunity to source internationally (IBM Business Consulting Services 2005). Companies have thus specialized and to “partnered” globally with other companies. These companies have then to increasingly focus on logistics and supply chain co-ordination. Such coordination is now an essential business process.

On the Bullwhip Effect Measure in Supply Chains with VAR (1) Demand Process

In this paper, a two-echelon supply chain, which includes two products based on the following considerations, has been studied and the bullwhip effect is quantified. Providing a measure for bullwhip effect that enables us to analyze and reduce this phenomenon in supply chains with two products is the basic purpose of this paper. Demand of products is presented by the first order vector autoregr...

Measuring and Analyzing the Bullwhip Effect in a Two-Product and Two Echelon Supply Chain Using Control Theory Approach

Coordination is very important in supply chain management and it is one of the main factors in supply chain profitability. Bullwhip effect is one of the basic obstacles to achieve coordination in supply chains and reduction of this phenomenon has an important role in supply chain harmony. The other side, costs of supply chain can be mitigated and customer service level can be increased by reduc...

A real-time SPC inventory replenishment system to improve supply chain performances

Inventory replenishment rules contribute significantly to the bullwhip effect and inventory instability in supply chains. Smoothing replenishment rules have been suggested as a mitigation solution for the bullwhip effect but dampening the bullwhip effect might increase inventory instability. This paper evaluates a real-time inventory replenishment system denoted as SPC that utilizes a control c...

Controlling the Bullwhip Effect in a Supply Chain Network with an Inventory Replenishment Policy by a Robust Control Method

This paper develops a mathematical model using differential equations and considers a bullwhip effect in a supply chain network with multiple retailers and distributors. To ensure the stability of the entire system and reduce the bullwhip effect, a robust control method and an inventory replenishment policy are proposed. This shows that the choice of the output matrix may reduce the bullwhip ef...

Measuring and avoiding the bullwhip effect: A control theoretic approach

An important contributory factor to the bullwhip effect (i.e. the variance amplification of order quantities observed in supply chains) is the replenishment rule used by supply chain members. First the bullwhip effect induced by the use of different forecasting methods in order-up-to replenishment policies is analysed. Variance amplification is quantified and we prove that the bullwhip effect i...

Analysis of the Bullwhip Effect in Supply Chains Using the Transfer Function Method

An important phenomenon in supply chain management, known as the bullwhip effect, suggests that demand variability increases as one moves up a supply chain. This paper examines the influence of different replenishment policies on the occurrence of the bullwhip effect. The paper demonstrates that certain replenishment policies can in themselves be inducers of the bullwhip effect, while others in...
